About Us

About Us – National Federation of the Blind Kerala

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is one of India’s largest self-help organizations for persons with blindness, guided by the motto “Let the Blind Lead the Blind.” NFB Kerala, the official state branch of NFB India, was established in 2019 to promote empowerment, equality, and independent living for visually impaired people across the state.

We focus on education, employment, accessibility, and rights protection. Our key services include financial and medical support, computer and mobility training, communication skill development, and preparation for competitive exams, government jobs, and self-employment. We also support visually impaired lottery sellers and offer scholarships and learning assistance for students.

Culturally, we launched the first Malayalam Audio Drama Competition for blind creators, followed by a national-level English competition, encouraging creativity in scriptwriting, voice acting, direction, and audio production. NFB Kerala also strongly promotes sports and games, helping members participate in state and national events.

Our structure includes regional units across Kerala, along with the Thalir Vidyarthi Sangamam (Students’ Wing) and active women and youth wings. We work closely with the Government to strengthen welfare schemes, accessibility, digital inclusion, and employment opportunities.

Join us in supporting a movement that ensures dignity, independence, and equal opportunity for every visually impaired person in Kerala.

Our Mission

The National Federation of the Blind – Kerala Branch remains steadfast in its mission to empower visually impaired individuals to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Together, we continue to work toward a society that values and respects the potential and contributions of every individual, regardless of visual ability.
